XboxMediaCenter / Change Default Directory For Music Playlists?
« on: May 03, 2008, 05:32:00 PM »
I read the manual, and added the following lines to advancedsettings.xml

<system>
    <playlistspath>smb://<login>:<password>@LKG316394/HDD_1_1_1/Music/Playlists</playlistspath>
</system>

where login and password is my NAS drive's login & password

This doesn't work.

Is this the correct way to change the default directory for music playlists?

Any help?

XboxMediaCenter / Video Not Streaming When Played From Scripts
« on: April 09, 2008, 05:19:00 PM »
I am using a build from Feb 2008.

When I try to stream video from You Tube or "student films" scripts, it plays for two seconds, then stops, and goes back to the main script window.   Similar behaviour from other scripts that contain streaming video.

I tried changing cache settings (Video > internet), but no change.   Do I have to reboot the Xbox after changing cache settings?

Any help?

Brian

I will try it again, and add log file entries.

XboxMediaCenter / Viewing Photos, Xbmc Rescans The Image
« on: October 29, 2007, 01:25:00 PM »
I love the zoom and pan functionality of XBMC for photos.

On a computer scanner, I scanned some old scrapbook pages at 300 dpi.  The images are a mix of photos and newspaper clippings.  Using XBMC, I zoom in on the text of the newspaper clippings.

I tried viewing one newspaper clipping in XBMC.  The text was illegible.   To test it, I looked at the same file again.  And again, the text was illegible at first.  Then, after two seconds, the Xbox seemed to "re-scan" the photo, and the text became crystal clear.

I have seen this before, on an old digital camera - at first the image is blurry, then the camera re-scans the image, and it is sharp and clear.

What is happening here?  Is it Xbox related, or XBMC related?   How do I get it to do this rescanning everytime?

Also, the clarity of the text, when not rescanned, was independant of the dpi setting (600 was no better), and very dependant on the rescanning.   This is important to me, as I plan on scanning all of my scrapbooks.

Thanks,

Brian

Xbox Homebrew Software / Dvd2xbox V0.7.8, Samba Share Not Working
« on: May 23, 2008, 09:08:00 PM »
XBMC's file manager sees the networked NAS drive fine (set up as an smb share), but when I edit dvd2xbox.xml to rip to the NAS drive, the Xbox locks up.

Here the coding in the xml file I am using:

<smb>
      <workgroup>WORKGROUP</workgroup>
      <winsserver>-</winsserver>

      <shares>
         <share>
            <name>NAS Drive 1</name>
            <url>smb://login:pass@192.168.1.XXX/LKG316394/HDD_1_1_1/</url>
         </share>

      </shares>
</smb>

I am able to access this drive with my PC too.

Any help?

XBMC for Xbox / Hd Spins Constantly While Streaming From Nas Drive
« on: March 03, 2008, 01:11:00 AM »
While streaming MP3 files (music) from my NAS drive to my xbox, the hard drive on the xbox spins constantly, and louder than some of the quiet music passages.  The loudness of the hard drive...it is not defective, typical hard drive noise, just constant.

This does not happen when I stream music from one xbox to another xbox.

Any help?  Change cache settings?

Start with two Xboxes.

Xbox #1 has all of my music, about 200 Gb.  All files scan to database fine locally.

Go to Xbox #2.  When I try to scan Xbox #1 music to database, it runs fine for about 5 minutes, then starts to run slower, then slower, then stops all together.  After it stops, I try to listen to a song, and Xbox #1 is off-line.

The build I am using is from March 21, 2007.

I have done a search on this topic, and the fixes were "clean install" and "too many folders".

I have a clean install, and it scanned fine locally.

Also, how do I scan just one subdirectory?  It seems to start all of my directories when I try.

Any help?

TSOP flashing / How Do I Turn Off Flubber Sound For Tsop Flashed Xbox?
« on: November 27, 2006, 11:16:00 AM »
I'm able to turn off the flubber sound on my other modded Xbox that has an X3 chip by using the X3 Live menu, but on a TSOP flashed Xbox, how do I turn off the flubber sound?

Thanks,
