Team DMS Chips (X-B.I.T) / Intermittent Problems With Xbit Chip...
« on: August 01, 2005, 04:51:00 PM »
Okay, just installed the xbit modchip about a few weeks ago and it worked like a charm.  Once in a while when I turn on the xbox it would boot as if the modchip is disabled.  Then I turned it off and turn it back on again, and it booted up with the modchip enabled.

Some other time, it would boot up where I see the green light blink 2 times, and it would frag without any display in the screen.  Turn it off and on a few times and it would be fine.

Somehow what I got the consensus here is that this modchip sucks and I am thinking of just getting a cheap duox2 soldered instead.  Oh I got an xbox 1.0 and I didn't solder the chip... Thanks.

Matrix & Chameleon Modchips / Matrix Mod Chip Dead?
« on: June 22, 2005, 10:26:00 PM »
I doubt that the modchip is the problem.  You should try a different game, or try loading the game from the hard drive.  If you think the mod chip is the problem you can try to program it with the lpc adapter.

PSP Forums / 1.50 Psp, Need Advice On Getting To 3.80 M33
« on: January 31, 2008, 01:11:00 PM »
I tried using the UPMS installer but I didn't have any luck.  But I used Despertar del Cementerio and it works great.  I used it on my 3.52 m33 and it upped the firmware without problems.  But I think you might have to install a 3.52 m33 firmware to make the pandora's battery and memory stick.' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>http://www.psp-hacks...bout125975.html

I don't know about you but if you try to go out to shop for memory this week the price of memory start to go down.  I saw price for 1gb ddr2 ram which is usually go for more than $100 suddenly dropped to less than $80 in some places.

Coincidently, this week, the Us government start going after these memory companies because they are being charged with price fixing.' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>

This is not the first time that has happened.  A few years back I recall that the price of memory actually went up to the point where the computers manufacturs downgraded memory of their pc's from 256mb to 128mb for their winxp loaded computers.

For the past year we saw the price of flash memory dropped like a rock while price of ddr2 ram for pc's stayed relatively the same or even went up.

I wouldn't be surprised that the memory price fixing has hurt Microsoft selling Vista because of its memory requirements.  Personally, I am looking to upgrade my computer and hope the memory price will go down soon.

My ati radeon 9800 pro got shot yesterday and begged my friend to lend me his video card.  Unfortunately, most video cards nowadays are pcie so if you want most bang for your buck, you probably have to change your motherboard and stuff like that.  Besides, most of the sale items that I have seen are hard drives, wireless stuff, and memory cards.

Perhaps you can wait until next Monday (cyber monday) when all the online stores will have their sales.

Personal Computer (PC, MAC, etc) General Talk / Tough Raid Question
« on: November 16, 2006, 12:14:00 PM »
Hardware raid is transparent to the operating system.  In your set hardware raid 0 in your computer, Windows' disk manager will only see one 500gb hard drive.  Whereas in software raid, you will see 2 250gb drives.

Definately go with hardware raid because the CPU gets bogged down with software raid.  Besides the performance issues, linux won't recognize your 2 software raid 0 partition.  After you purchase the raid controller, you will probably have to reinstall the OS.

In one of my laptops I use ie6 with windows media player 10.  It keeps crashing when I play streaming video that requires windows media player.  IT doesn't crash when i play streaming video that uses macromedia flash player or youtube.  I updated to ie7 with windows media player 11 and it still crashes.  I was wondering if it happens to you before and if you know how to fix it.  Thanks.

For the country who internet, I always wonder why the US is so behind other countries like Japan and Korea.  When you and I are boasting our 10mbps speeds to our high speed providers, countries like Japan and Korea are laughing at us with 100mbps speeds.  You can thank that bonehead in the whitehouse who let the telecom companies run the internet backbone.   Bush does not see that regulating promoting the use of the internet to increase the competitiveness of our economy and getting onto the internet as 'optional.'   The amount of money spent by the government is minimal yet it gains dividends in our state of our economy.

Politics, News and Religion / Another Grand Old Pervert Exposed

Looks like Idaho Senator Larry Craig went to the restroom of some Airport and was looking for some action.  Some undercover plain clothes officer caught this Senator red handed and looks he is being punished.

I know, I know, some of you think I am wrongly accusing this guy as a sexual deviant.

Whenever you think of Congressman having illicit activity with Minor Pages, you think of Mark Foley.   Check out this interesting 25 year old video about then Congressman Craig being accused of illicit activity with a former Page.

After all the poking and prodding about the the Leaking of the name of Valeria Plame, Bush finally admits that someone from the White House has done it.  A few years back he said that he was going to fire anyone who leaked the name of Valerie Plame.  And now he said that he wants to 'move on.'  Worse, this guy won't tell who did it.

You know, I recall that Nixon wants to 'move on' after the Watergate scandal.  Guess what happened to him.

Sony and Microsoft thinks that better hardware translates to better sales but was totally sidelined by Nintendo's WII.  I'm sure that Sony and Microsoft will appeal to game freaks, but if they want to make something successful, they have to make something that will appeal to the wider audiance.

The other day I was playing with the WII sports and I thought the game was fun for a change.  For me, I could never play a FPS game because I don't have the reflexes for it and the learning curve is too high.

Because of their need of the promise to increase of minimum wage, most of the Democrats decided to okay Bush's Iraq Bill.' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>

I understand that Bush and those bumbling Republicans don't understand that Most Americans want a withdrawl timetable.  But it looks like some Democrats sold their soul to the Devil by passing this dumb bill.

Politics, News and Religion / Food Prices Going Up:

If any of you try to buy milk recently, it recently jumped up from anywhere 7-15% for the past few weeks.  Why?  Because of Bush's mantra that we need more more ethanol for cars, from 7% last year to 25% this year.  As a result, the increasing demand raised the price of corn from $2 a bushel to $4 a bushel.  Most people don't eat corn itself, but eat the products that is made from corn: from candy and soda.  Price goes up to feed the cows, chicken and pigs.  So far the food manufacturers, restaurants and grocery stores has absorbed most the price increases but will slowly pass on to consumers.

I don't know about you, but for the past 40 years there's an oversupply of food which drives prices down.  I hate to see the price of food raise like the price of gas.
