Xbox Case/Hardware modding / Metallica Xbox (metbox)
« on: April 07, 2005, 03:16:00 AM »
Well, I got my stencils done on my MetBox (you guys helped me' target='_blank'>HERE.) I also did a few other things...

Here is what I did:

- Custom Metallica "Ninja Star" jewel - Thx to Lep
- Red LED's around jewel and behind power/eject
- Mirror behind jewel
- Metallica Logo stenciled in Maroon on Top (made own stencil)
- Scary Guy logo stenciled on top (from Binge & Burge box set)
- Amp Logo stenciled on front (made own stencil)
- Sanded smooth dvd bezel
- Clearcoat top and front (matte finish)

So, as you can see, nothing crazy, no bondo or anything dramatic like some of the crazy mods I see on here! I just wanted a second Xbox for syslink games, so I bought parts and put together the MetBox, something to do ;)

Xbox Case/Hardware modding / Stencils On Xbox Lid - Clear Coat?
« on: March 23, 2005, 03:14:00 AM »
I stenciled the Scary Guy and MetallicA logos on the top of an extra box I had... I also have a custom Ninja Star jewel coming, so this is going to be my Met-Box wink.gif

Question: How can I protect my stencils I sprayed on top with Plastics Spray Paint? Clear coat? I just painted a few stencils, I didn't paint the whole box...

None of the tuts on the mainpage really covered stencils...

Just got this up and running and I am a little disappointed...

For some reason it doesn't just let me "browse" the folders and choose music to play, that would be to easy since I already have everything organized on the filesystem  grr.gif

Instead it catalogued everything by "album", etc. 90% of the albums that I go to only show like (1) song, or a couple. Where are the rest of the mp3 files?

The only thing I could think of was it didn't like filenames of some of them or something, but there is nothing unusual about that many of the files. Then I thought that maybe it was ID3 tags, most of my MP3's don't have them... But that can't be it either, because I did find some files displaying (quick glance) that don't have ID3 tags. WTF is up? Why are not all the files listed? Anyone?  uhh.gif

Xbox 360 Games General Chat (wip) / Nba 2k6 Vs Nba Live 06
« on: December 28, 2005, 12:53:00 PM »
Ok, on the Xbox I always preferred the NBA 2K series. I believe they used to be Sega games, now they are Sega/ESPN? Regardless, I liked the series. This one says it has "Xbox Live" support as well.

As far as the NBA LIVE series, they were ok. However, they are EA. And I have heard a lot about EA games sucking on the 360, as they are just "ports"... On the xbox page I don't see anything about Xbox Live support, but I imagine it has to have it.

Has anyone played both games? Which is better and why?

PLZ don't respond with "go read a review, etc". I don't care for reviewers ratings. I want to hear from fellow gamers, casual gamers if possible wink.gif

Technical DVD-ROM and Modified DVD Firmware Forum / Mtkflash Sucks

Replying to Mtkflash Sucks

That's funny... MTKFLASH has been one of the drive hacking communities favorite tools for years... Many a drive has it saved, and many a firmware has it hacked...

Just get a Windows98 bootdisk. or whatever. The rest is editing mtkflash to understand your sata chipset properly... If you can't do that, just buy one of the motherboards/pci cards that are supported by an existing hack of mtkflash...

Xbox360 General / Idea To Get Retailer To Find You A 360
« on: December 07, 2005, 12:10:00 AM »
Here is an idea, I won't do it because I think it is kind of pathetic/dishonest, but if you are really desperate because you just missed getting your Xbox 360 at the store you could try this:

Scenario: Say You just stood in line at 8AM at Target. You were 5th in line, they had 4 consoles. (Even if you weren't there, if you know for sure the store sold some that day you could try this).

1) Get ahold of Target Corporate (or regional, General Manager, Store Manager, etc) later in the day. Tell them "I was in line to get an Xbox 360 this morning at XXX store and I was turned away and told the consoles were gone. 10 minutes later I walked by and heard a kid tell an employee "I am XXXX cousin, I am here to get my Xbox". Tell them the employee came out of the back and rang the kid up (This is really happening out there, so it isn't that far fetched!).

2) Explain that you have been at various Targets when the stores open everyday for over a week trying to get your hands on one of these.

3) Demand/ask that they find you another console as soon as possible since you were treated unfairly as a customer.

Ok, there are holes in this (like if you don't have the employees name, etc), but you never know, you might get that one guy who doesn't want to leave a customer with a bad taste, and he might actually find one for you...

And YES. It has come to this  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

XLink Kai Forum / Xlink Kai & Firewall Settings - Port Flood!
« on: November 09, 2004, 08:01:00 PM »
My Setup:

Port Forward (Kai Port): 8602 (shared with XBC)
Kai Deep Port: 0

I had to open up outbound traffic for ports TCP/UDP 34525 & 34523 before it would even let XLink Connect...

Now that it is connected it also wants to use TCP 2451 and TCP 2418.

It is also asking for UDP 3000. And now TCP 21 and TCP 1974... Now TCP 2457 and 2458...

If I sit here and just let this thing go, it seems to just randomly connect outbound using random ports!

I restrict outbound traffic, except for services (ports) that I allow, on my firewall. I don't just restrict inbound, but outbound as well (I basically run corporate level security at my home).

I am trying to make a firewall rule for Xlink (for the outbound traffic), however it seems to just randomly use outbound ports!

As far as inbound, that was easy, I just forwarded TCP/UDP 8602 and set it as the "Kai Port".

My problem is with outbound! Which ports does XLink ***NEED***! Is there a port range that I need to open?

I really want to use Xlink, but I am not willing to disable my firewall just to use it...

Thanks in advance, I have searched for this info and not had much success!' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='beerchug.gif' />

Xbox Live - Online Gaming Service / Xbox Live - Age Restricted Rooms?

Can any of this be controlled? Or should I just give up and stick to playing in private games with my friends?' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />

Xbox Live - Online Gaming Service / Swith Fitted To Xbox Will It Work?
« on: January 27, 2003, 02:12:00 PM »
Yes. That is the best configuration at this time. Just be sure you only use originals on live.

One extra precaution: Unplug internet connection when not using Live.

Xbox Live - Online Gaming Service / Xblive And Mod Turned On
« on: December 10, 2002, 10:26:00 PM »
Please do not answer this question, unless you are positive you know the answer. If you only "read it" in a forum, you do not know for sure. Thanks, I just want to be 100% positive.

**************Let's say I update the MS Dashboard, with my mod-chip off, to the new XBLive MS Dashboard. If I boot the newly installed *Updated MS Dashboard* with the x-ecuter mod-chip turned on, will I be banned? Or do I have to actually attempt a connection with the XBLive server with my mod-chip on to get banned?**************

Reason I ask: I do not have EvoX on my hard drive. I just use the boot disc method. I boot the old (which is still current to me) MS Dashboard all of the time with my mod-chip on. I would like to continue this after I upgrade to Live. I am thinking I would just have to remember to disable my mod-chip before bootup when I actually plan on "connecting" to XBLive.

Please help, I have searched the posts and read the tutorials, but I have seen to much variation in the posts to feel confident about making a decision.

I am pretty sure EvoX creates this file... Not MS$

Other Online Gaming Options (Gamespy, etc.) / Config Magic On Dvd-r
« on: January 08, 2003, 08:53:00 PM »
I have the ConfigMagic_Public_Beta_2.rar release of Config Magic.

I placed it on my EvoX boot DVDR, and referenced it from Evox.ini. I can select Config Magic, but when I start it, it just sits at the loading screen and never starts.

I have tried (2) different downloads of it, and it still just sits there.

Before I continue, will Config Magic run of DVD-R boot disc, or should I install it to the HDD? Also, does it just need the XBE Patch applied?

Any help would be appreciated... Thanks!
