Title: Hdmi And 1080p Support Would Rock!
Post by: von_braun on December 05, 2004, 02:54:00 AM
Since there is a better mode of HD coming, 1080progressive, i think that the
xbox 2 should support it, and games will probebly take a little longer. But its what we should expect from a next gen console built to compete with computer graphics an all. The HDMI is a cool interface that being put into new hd tvs, It looks kinda like usb (physically I mean) and can carry digital audio and video in the one plug.
This would totally sell me on the Xbox 2 when it comes out. What about you guys?

OH wait, under HDMI's founders are a bunch of companies, but there is also sony, i hope that doesnt mean only the ps3 will get this awsome interface. They love their proprietery standards.

The box should support it, if the memory on the unit can handle everything at that resolution.

whats the point of 1080p?

1080i and 720p make a lot more sense.

1080i is beautiful for nearly-still images, but since it is interlaced, no matter how high the resolution is it's still gonna look like shit when anything moves.

1080p will have the beautiful progressive scan clarity of 720p, but pack a beautiful 2.1 megapixels

HDMI = BAD!

HDMI = copy protected DVI

They should just use proper DVI, without any of that copy protection bullsh*t, though knowing MS the chances of this are slim.

Ya know what the corporate types are thinking...

"Oh noes!  A digital output means they can record perfect quality videos!  We must encrypt do we can keep those illegal pirates from...doing....something...."
