Have you checkeh the box in XBMC for auto-enable UPNP?  That's what I did, and then as long as the folder with your media is shared you should be able to access it from XBMC by going through UPNP server.

I was just wondering how most people are using XBMC to stream files from Vista RC2.  I have browsed this forum and the only thing I seem to find is using the SMB share's by setting the "local security policy" settings in the administrative tools.  Unfortunately, this is not working for me.  I get the following error:

"error - 107374772:share not available"

I'm not quite sure what to do, as I have the folders I want set up to share properly.  (I think)

I also can't seem to get ccXgui working.  Which worked great with XP.  I think its my network setup.

This is how its configured:

My PC is connected to my home network using wireless pre-N.  No biggie, works great!  My Xbox is connect to my PC using a Cat5e patch cable.  I don't need an active internet connection for my xbox as all my files are located on my PC.  My Xbox is manually configured with the ip of 192.168.0.103 with the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 and the gateway 192.168.0.1.  The same goes for my PC the only difference is that its ip address is 192.168.0.101. any ideas?

What about setting up the uPnP with xbmc and vista2?

Any ideas would be useful, like i said, i've been surfing since 6:00 (when I got home from work) and its now 9:43.  Thanks guys I really appreciate it.

Change the xbox to 192.168.1.103
And change the PC to xbox nic to 192.168.1.101

leave the gateway to get on the net

hope it helps
