Any more interesting updates, how about a few screenshots of progress? If this can be done then I dont so why a browser cant be coded.

The browser discussion has been had about a billion times and it's not gonna happen again. If you want to know the reasons, then search.

A POP client is about a hundred times easier.

Wow, create work so far! However, Id be careful about them icons at the top, they look as though they have just been plainly copied from outlook express. MS might not be to happy about that, that’s if you reviewed it on a web site, that’s just a thought to be on the safe side of things.

Virtual keyboard, I hated the one in Gentoox (no offence to the developer of that) but it sucked, for typing email no, for navigation maybe.

I think for the image an option to display a thumbnail if it's a picture and if the user wants to save it, it automatically detects were Xbox Media Player (or scans for media players) is and drops it in the images folder. Stuff like that, great work so far!

I wouldn't recommend having an xbox client default to deleting messages off the server, since most people will not wish to use it as their main client.

Hi all,

progress is slow, but getting there.
http://xboxgames.www...exmail2-lrg.jpg
check the site for more screens..

edit: don't know what's up but I can't display screen here it shouldn't read www.cnn.com.
but X - B - O - X . N E T  without the spaces, with spaces it turns into www.cnn.com
www.CNN.com
see :-(

Pop3 only for the moment, IMAP will follow.
What can it do..
I can get all the messages from the server(buggy but ok most times).
If server can handle unique-id command(UIDL) I use it.
Display inbox with all messages details,
Select and read message in plain text(with a word wrap :-)

So still tons of work left.
MIME, attachments. A better way of storing the messages. Displaying GFX attachments, blah blah blah.

I keep you updated..

jippie

Ours was prettier wink.gif Anyway, join in chat if ya need any help with it.

Displaying image attachments shouldn't be too bad.

One way of storing the messages is using a message cache. You can save the raw message data to a file (named by the UIDL) so there's no need to redownload off the server each time. If there is no UIDL support then you could do a crc on some of the header data and then give the file that name.

EvilNeru: I doubt many if any would be using this as their primary email client so deleting would need to be an option. It'd probably be mainly so you can flip the Xbox on get a quick look at your messages within 30 secs.

If you send the command TOP 1 0 where 1 is the message number then you'll receive just the header and you can parse it and take a CRC of what you want (like date, subject, from etc contacenated).

wink.gif God damn the lack of time on my hands. I will try and get you some bits together jippie don't worry!

I've so much work on that it's bearing down on me, while trying to grab time to continue coding a new game, it's very hectic.
