How Hard Would It Be To Get A Samsung?

if i went and bought a new xbox whats the chance id end up with a samsung? when were they produiced with them and would they still be lurking in the stores?

21103 = Thomson/Western Digital/1.0
23705 = Philips/Seagate/1.1
24005 = Samsung/Seagate/1.1
24105 = Samsung/Seagate/1.1
24205 = Samsung/Seagate/1.1
30705 = Philips/Seagate/1.2

Here is a general pattern some people have come across..
It may help...Apparently most boxes from CHINA have samsung
So if this helps great...But your chances are pretty good..But it can be trial and error...

I ordered mine from gamestop.com back in december and I got a Version 1.0 with a Samsung drive a western digital 8 gig.  from what my buddy tells me at gamestop the website's warehouse and a huge stock of version 1.0's becuase they sell the newer ones when they come in.

This was also the case in a store here in Denmark awhile ago when they had a huge pricedrop on Xboxes
We neede to buy two but they only had one "v1.1" in the store with manufacture date after August 2002

Just "demand" a xbox manufactured after August 2002 hopefully they ran out of Thomson DVDs after that
(you dont want a 1.0 with Thomson DVD and a loud WD HD)

thanks go to all of you. i just went to walmart and found an xbox that luckily(they didnt have ones with those serial numbers) came with a samsung drive. now its great reads cds and everything but when i try to play a burnt audio cd in MS dash it only plays 2 minutes then skips to the next song. any reason why?
