About Warranty And Tie Straps :)
« on: March 11, 2003, 08:53:00 AM »

Hi, have a question;

If I removed the warranty stickers with a hairdryer so that
they are in good condition, and install a modchip that has
pogo-pins and require no solder.. is it possible to put the xbox
back to a condition where it seems that it has never been
modded with, so I still have my warranty?  (if for instance, the xbox
dvd player or  video-chip broke)

Or are there things like tie straps around cables that you
have to cut in order to install the modchip?

No, I've modded my Xbox and returned it to Wal-mart twice for an exchanged after the video went out. There are no tie straps or anything.

That good to hear.. you didn't have any trouble returning it?

Surely you used a pogo-pinned-mod chip? or did you use a
chip that you had to solder?

B.t.w. how did you remove the waranty stickers? also with
a hairdryer?

thanks,

I had a matrix in it, no soldering. Even if I had a brick in the box either time I still would have been able to exchange it. They didn't look at the Xbox at all, they only looked to see if the Controller, AV Cable, and power cable were there. They were on the top just like when you buy a new one. I've painted my jewel and installed switches now, so if something else happens I'll either have to fix it with parts, or go buy a new one from Wal-Mart and switch cases, and return it for a refund. I did that for my bro-in-law after he fucked up his PS2 trying to install a Magic 3.1

If you return it to MS, they will know you've taken the sticker off smile.gif There is no 'perfect' way of removing the sticker, they can always tell it's been removed smile.gif

So...

What are they going to do about it? I don't register my Xbox, just like I don't register any of my software, so they'll never know where the hell it came from, and probably don't care.

BTW...I guarantee that I can remove the stickers, take apart the Xbox, reassemble it, and you or anyone else would not be able to tell. I've done it.
