If this is when you insert the install cd, then I suggest doing a FULL ERASE of your cdrw/dvdrw/whatever. Then, reburn the 0.3.1.iso file and try that.

I thought I burned mine wrong on the install disc, then I just turned off my xbox and tried again. Worked fine.

If this isn't the install disc, sounds like you have the config file for cd boot in with the hd bootloader.

YEAAA , the problem was just because i burnt the installation CD as a XISO instead of an normal PC ISO. (nero, 4x, finilize, disc-at-once)

Special thanks to Edgar Hucek who help me on it.

Work great now.

Tip: Based on MY experience No version of Linux will boot on a 1.0 Xbox if you are using the Xecuter2 4974 no-animation bios

I did the XBOXLinuxInstall thing, then it went thru some crap. I didn't type anything now the screen is justblack. Been black for
about 6 minutes now....Is this normal??
edit: i guess thats a little thing called the screen saver

2nd edit:I've got a new problem now.  I can't get the netwrok to work. it works for evox, and I typed in 192.168.1.104 for my ip in Linux, I wanted it dhcp tho. is that what I should hav typed? When i got to bash and type cd/etc/network it does nothing. Says directory doesnt exist. but i found the directory browsing with mplayer.I've tried so many variaitons....Any advice?
3rd edit: ok i got it now, i didnt put a space after cd. thanks. ill probably ask another question in like 10 seconds lol

Are you using a space between "cd" and "/etc/network/"?

You can also type "nano /etc/network/interfaces" and get there quicker.

Also: I've found that if DHPC is enabled on your router, you won't be able to get internet in Linux (with a static IP) even if it works in Evox or Live.

The solution is to disable DHPC on your router for the IP address being used. OR set linux up as DHPC.

Don't mean to contradict you gain, but I have my router set to give out ip's, and I gave my linux box a static.

My router is set up to give out ip's along the range of 192.168.2.20 to 192.168.2.25, My computer automatically grabs .20 (Since it's always on) and I gave my linux box the static IP of 192.168.2.22 this way they never conflict with each other.

I simply replaced static ip with dhcp in nano and it worked

It might be something stupid I'm doing.. but apparently 4+ people have had the same problem..

I set my router to give IPs from 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.32, my xbox is set as .64 (linux, evox, and live, static), my computer is .5 (static). Windows, Evox, and Live work when DHCP is set from .2 - .254. But Linux WON'T work (with static IP), So I have to drop DHCP down below the Xbox IP level.

May just be different routers..  beerchug.gif

How come when I boot my 0.3.1 CDRW when I go to login I enter root/xbox and goes back to the black screen and goes back to the login. I got it to login once but thats it. Maybe its the media? should I try DVD-R?

Sort of a strange thing..

Try burning to DVD, and remember, DON'T extract the contents of 0.3.1.ISO for any reason, burn the ISO file directly (in nero: File/Burn Image).

Do NOT make it into a GDF image, xISO file, or anything else like that.

Of course, that may have nothing to do with your problem.  beerchug.gif

HMM isnt this interesting.. I finally got it to install of the CD. Now I boot to linux and at the first login in debian i do root/xbox

Same thing. It wont let me in and goes to a black screen then a few seconds later comes back to the login. there is no error showing that its the wrong login or anything like when you enter the login/password wrong.

This is getting anoying. I wonder if anyone's getting the same problem

I have done it 15times atleast no luck.

Another 3 reboots about 10 tries each..Nope

seriously this is making me go crazy. I have tried entering it using that virtual keyboard, didnt work either. Remember this time Im running linux off the HD..and not working stil sad.gif
