Not being a hardcore linux user i have no clue as to overcome this.

I just finished up my Gentoo install so ill do it a little later

Now here is something else I found wierd.....I had my KB, Mouse and Controller plugged in and it froze at Starting linux; Rebooted after unplugging Controller and started up.  This happened everytime I did this Freeze with controller in and no freeze with controller out...hmm!  Also couldn't get past the damn error msg when trying to select a partition to install to.  using a stock hhd.

Ok guys, im in my mandrake install!!!

I finished it now im trying to make a proper linuxboot.cfg

Before, it wouldnt boot, now it displays hda 0 in cromwell (it ay hda 1 when selecting from gentoo hard drive, but whatever)

But it always says failed to load Kernel Grub error 15

Heres what in the boot directory of my mandrake install:

System.map-2.6.11-6mdkxbox  initrd-2.6.11-6mdkxbox.img  message-graphic
config-2.6.11-6mdkxbox            initrd.img                  vmlinuz
grub                                        linuxboot.cfg               vmlinuz-2.6.11-6mdkxbox

( DONT INCLUDE linuxboot.cfg, i put that there)

Here is whats in MY linuxboot.cfg:

kernel vmlinuz
append root=/dev/hda1 kbd-reset video=xbox:640x480,nohwcursor acpi=hw

SOmeone give me a proper linuxboot.cfg or a suggested one and ill try it

I think that's a problem with Xromwell/Gentoox loader.... many people experience this same problem with other Xbox Linux distros using xromwell and/or Gentoox Loader. Otherwise, I have this loading on my 1.6 in 480p, although the installer doesn't even work for me though.

That ball is in nvidia's court and I doubt they would bother even if they were allowed too,as their support for even standard pc video cards on linux has been absymal of late. Most of the commercial dsitributions don't do anything but build installers and package things a certain way, along with breaking glibc and the kernel(mostly redhat),so it is unsuprising that mandrake are not offering anything new here.

I suggest reading the Cromwell Manual. The error your getting is because the path to the kernel isn't correct. From what you've written you need something like this

kernel boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-6mdkxbox

initrd boot/initrd-2.6.11-6mdkxbox.img

append root=/dev/hda1 kbd-reset video=xbox:640x480,nohwcursor acpi=hw

For the append line I suggest you see what the mandrake installer has placed in grub's menu and copy this (This could be in /boot/grub/menu.list or something like that).
