You need to play the 79 Unlock Audio CD in the drive, so the drive can't be unlocked until its working...

just purchase a new spindle for it (less than $5 on eBay)  Easy swap.

ok finly got it to work with the audio cd, but it still wont read games. I thank its the laser. Any one know were to buy a cheep 0079FL? found some for like 30 bucks but they want like 40 for shipping.

You can find them on eBay for $20 + $6 shipping I believe.  I guarantee $30 with free shipping.  I can get a BenQ for that price and they cost more.  Usually I'd offer to sell you a Hiachi, as I hate these drives and avoid having them.  A little to well, I don't have any.  Have all the other drives though.  smile.gif

You could just get a hitachi drive without the PCB and transfer the PCB to it.  Any version hitachi drive will work as they have the same hardware like laser and motors and such, just different PCBs and firmware version but all PCBs will work in any version shell.

Unfortunately the spare drive I had laying aroud is shot also. So now Im looking for a new drive sad.gif
