Wow....

First time, in a long time, I have seen so many posts about my ccXgui (though it's not implemented yet).

First of all. I don't even think it's supported by XBMC (directly) because this part is NOT based on cXstream, but "pure" TCP data.

I'm talking to a few "phyton geeks" that (hopefully) are going to write a small script for this  biggrin.gif

I'm releasing a small client tool soon, so you can (locally on the pc) test this nice tool....heh

About the "Interface not supported": If I remember correct (not near my development machine atm.) it has something to do with the codec. Try change to another codec.... VFW codec if I remember corrrect is nice.....

About the XBOX->PC commands: heh...look at cXgui v.2 wip news..... allready there  biggrin.gif  (or at least on it's way)

Hi

I have  Fusion HDTV Card (PAL - Australia) and it only supports the Video Input, not the Tuner itself.  If you could make this BDA compliant, it would rock!!!

Cheers

I've got my webcam working through the PC display (but no format options appear when I select my Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture card), but am not sure what link to setup in XBMC? Any advice on this would be great - otherwise a potentially excellent piece of software!

Wigmund: The TV-Tuner part is not fully implemented.... It would be waste of coding...if this draft don't work at all... But if the draft is proven working... (mabye with a little help of the XBMC team with some sort of implementing in the XBMC code), I will start the further development of the TV-Tuner part.

The best way to test it atm. is with a webcam, as it don't require (mostly) any setup of channel etc.

I will try to talk to the XBMC team later, when i'm home again (at my development machine...heh) so we manye can figure this out.....

Or mabye I will "convert" the stream to a mms protocol, for easier streaming (though the current will stream in a higher quality)

So let me see if I got this straight... I got it to work on my pc. Althought I had to guess through a couple of the options of the settings window because it would not display either the OK or Cancel buttons (i guess they are there but since I am using big fonts they might be screwing up the gui), i got the initially black window to display the images of my Logitech USB Web cam.

Now, this application is also streaming these images using tcp over port 33000, but there is no client to pick them up yet?

I'll try all the players that i have installed in my notebook as soon as I get home, but I would just like to know if what I understood is accurate.

Yes. You are right, as there are no clinets beside xine, and my test client that can accept raw tcp data (tcp://IP_HERE:33000)

I will release the test client soon  biggrin.gif

Are you refering to the ccXgui as an client? I thought is was a server?
And what about about it's streaming abilities, how should I connect to it from my XBMC? I have tried the TCP://MYIP:33000 and checked so my PC is listening to the 33000 port and it is showing a live tv picture on my PC right now.

..or am I totaly wrong, was this NOT meant to be working right-out-of-the box in XBMC? ...I don't use any xbms:// ..just standard smb:// stuff for me

MeandI,

yes. As I understand it this is not meant to work with XBMC as a client (at least not at this point). So I guess the failures on the XBMC side to pick up the stream are expected and need to be fixed on the XBMC side ?

Few more comments:

1) Why would you do this ? - Well consider that you only have one location in your house where you get cable tv / satellite in. This is where you have your cable box. Now, you hook up that box to a PC with capture card. Now you can watch TV _anywhere_ in house where you have a cat5 connection and a Xbox or a PC. Or you can do this even over a 802.11a connection without any wires ! This is the _huge_ and _only_ advantage MCE has over XBMC right now (thats why I am running both on my XBOX hehe). So haveing ccXgui2 stream the capture card stream and then pick it up with XBMC would be absolutely AWESOME !

2) Both vlc and mplayer (on linux) should be also able to pick up raw udp and tcp streams. VLC is very nice for testing, stable and a nice ui for configuration (the website i think is videolan.org).

3) If you have a tuner card you need to implement channel changeing on the card itself. However there is a very good, very workable alternative for this: If you have an external cable / satellite receiver, use the composite video in on your tuner card (instead of hooking up the cable directly to the tuner) and change the channels on the cable / satellite box. This way, you can get a pair of pretty cheap Infrared repeater from Radio Shack or so, and take the cable box remote control with you to whereever you are watching the tv stream and change channels from there. This, however, only works with cable & sat boxes, not with 'off-the-air' tv.

4) THANKS for developing this. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to have xbmc work as a client for this.

MeAndI: The ccXgui server itself runs fine in XBMC, as it used the ccXstream (XBMS protocol). This part of ccXgui2 (tv capture test tool) is NOT a part of the ccXgui so far. As stated in the announcement, this is experimental, so it means "just" an idea so far. Hopefully, XBMC will support raw tcp data, and then I can implement it into the ccXgui2 server.

Hawat: 1: Yes. That was my first idea  biggrin.gif  I got the idea because where I am living now (shitty apartment...heh) we are not allowed to put up new cables for tv. That means that we have to have the tv close by the plug....but that is located close to the kitchen...and not the living room. So I thought about putting a mini itx comp there, with tv tuner card, big hdd, etc, and then send it thorugh either cable LAN or wireless....awsome...heh...so far....  biggrin.gif  And as the current development version of ccXgui2 has got command server implemented, we can then (if also supported in xbmc) send commands (user defined) from the xbox to the ccXgui server....so now we can start changing channel, etc on the tv-tuner card.....directly from xbmc....also awsome  biggrin.gif

2: I will try to look at those 2 players....tnx  smile.gif

3: As I wrote in 1. ccXgui2 will get a command server  biggrin.gif

4: You welcome.... I'm just making this nice software, so we can expand the xbmc experience..... I thing there's a long time before we see xbmc on Xbox360....so lets enjoy this model  biggrin.gif

Hey, if you consider adding TV Tuner support, making it a plugin for Mediaportal would be a amazing. You could consider taking to the Mediaportal guys, they already have tons of TV tuner card support.

Great idea! I've been missing the possibility for adding a tv-tuner to my xbox, and this is a great workaround!

Keep up the good work!  biggrin.gif

Seems to work fine with my FusionHDTV 3 Gold (NTSC/ATSC) card. It crashes when I close the program, but that is the best time to crash.

If XBMC started supporting this, then this program would own.

I think this would be a great addition to XBMC.  I have a fta reciever and its hooked up to my computer so I can pvr programs.  It would be great if I could stream live tv to my xbox's.

Keep up the good work

if you want to stream your video capture cards output to xbmc use vlc.  I am using 0.8.4a  using the http protocol , asf encapulation and transcoding it to wmv2 at 512kb/s.  it might work with a higher bandwith setting but I haven't attempted it yet.

I created a .strm file like this

http://MYIPHERE:1234

and it loads everytime

I have been trying settings for a while and that is the only way it seems to work.
I am also using a Radeon All-In-wonder
